Management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome NATURALLY

Since one of the basic causative factor is stress, every effort should be made to manage the stress. Simultaneously, the management of physical symptoms, if any, has to be taken care. Effort should also be made to rule out the organic involvement of the disease.
I. Naturopathy Management
The following Naturopathy treatment modalities are useful in the management of IBS.
Fasting Therapy:
Fasting is an important modality in the natural methods of health preservation. Short or Intermittent Fasting is advisable.
Hydrotherapy:
Hydro Therapy is the effective treatment in IBS by producing the thermic and mechanical effects desired and can be applied to a limited area or to the whole.
MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage is a scientific and systemic manipulation of the tissues and organs of the body. It aims at improving the blood circulation and also at strengthening muscles and organs. Partial massage to abdomen and full body massage is useful in this condition.
During the phase of Diarrhoea:
Mud Pack to Abdomen
Cold compress/Ice bag over Abdomen
Ice-cold Compress over Abdomen to reduce the peristaltic movement of bowel.
Rest and relaxation to avoid the frequency of passing stool.
During the phase of Constipation:
Mud Pack over Abdomen.
Cold Hip Bath daily in the early morning for mins.

Full Body Massage.
Steam Bath
Full Mud Bath
Sauna Bath.
Circular Jet Spray Cold Jet Massage.
II. The specific Yogic practices prescribed are:
Kriyas: Kapalabhati, Agnisara, Nauli, Laghu Shankaprakshalana.
Suryanamaskara
Selected practices of Yogic Sukshma vyayama: Udara Shakti vikasaka Kriya.
Yogasanas: Uttanapadasana, Pawanamuktasana, Sarvangasana, Sarala Matsyasana, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Gomukhasana, Vajrasana, Shashankasana, Ushtrasana, Marjariasana, Vakrasana, Tadasana,
Katichakrasana.
Pranayama: Nadishodhana Pranayama, Suryanadi Pranayama, Bhramari,
Bhastrika.
Relaxation: Shavasana, Yoga Nidra
Meditation: Simple breath watching, Om chanting, Om Meditation
III. Dietary management:
Limit or eliminate foods that may causes constipation, diarrhea, bloating and pain worse. These may include caffeine, alcohol, carbonated (fizzy) drinks, spicy, milk, foods high in sugar, fatty foods, gas-producing foods (such as beans, cabbage and broccoli) and artificial sweeteners sorbitol and xylitol (often used in sugarless gum and sugarless candy).
Drink plenty of water and get regular exercise.
Add soluble and insoluble fiber to the diet to reduce constipation.
To control diarrhea, eat soluble, non spicy and non irritant diet in frequent small meals such as curd, buttermilk, boiled rice, diluted fruit juices to avoid dehydration.
